How to root micromax a56 easy method

The A56 Ninja 2 is a low-end device released by Micromax last month.  It comes with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread onboard and features a 800MHz processor, 256MB RAM, and a 3.15MP camera – in other words, a device perfect for first-time Android users.  The guide below will show you how to root the device and get much more out of its meager innards, so keep reading if you would like try all those root-requiring apps that enhance your device’s capabilities.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Make sure that you have installed the necessary drivers before you proceed.  If not, download them from the section below and install them before you physically connect your device to begin the procedure.
2.  Make sure that you have at least 75% of battery power left before you start.  Although unlikely, this is to prevent phone from shutting down during the process and getting bricked!

II.  Downloads

1.  .android.rar
2.  usbdeview.zip
3.  Drivers_A56.zip (Official Micromax A56 Ninja 2 Drivers)
4.  UnlockRoot_downloader_by_UnlockRoot.exe (Needs an active internet connection to download and install setup files).

III.  Installing the Drivers and Setting up ADB

1.  Extract usbdeview.zip you downloaded above to a folder on your desktop.
2.  From the extracted folder, run USBDeview.exe.
3.  Stop any entries that have the words Android or Micromax by selecting the relevant entries and clicking the Disconnect Selected Devices button.
4.  Extract .android.rar you download above a folder on your desktop.  You should end up with a folder named .android containing the file adb_usb.ini.  I have zipped the .android folder instead of just providing the ini file as some users have reported problems creating the .android folder.
5.  Copy this folder to C:\Users\yourusername (on Windows 7).  If you have doubts regarding this, check the screenshot below to make sure you have placed it in the right location.

6.  Extract Drivers_A56.zip to a folder on your desktop.
7.  Power off your device and connect to your PC.
8.  Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons to boot into recovery.
9.  Windows 7 should start looking drivers at this point.  It might find some but if it doesn’t, do this:

i.  Open Device Manager from your Control Panel.

ii.  If you see Android Device > Composite ADB Device in the components listed, it means that you have set up ADB successfully.

iii.  Go to Other Devices > Micromax A56, right click on it and click on update driver.

iv.  Browse to the Drivers_A56 you extracted above and install the drivers.

You will have set up ADB and installed the necessary drivers at this point if you have followed the steps correctly!

IV.  Rooting the Micromax A56 Ninja 2

1.  Double-click on UnlockRoot_downloader_by_UnlockRoot.exe to install the UnlockRoot Tool.
2.  Power on your device (still connected) and enable USB Debugging.  To do this, go to Settings > Applications > Development on your device and tick the USB Debugging checkbox.  Windows might install the necessary drivers here again if you haven’t already done it in the previous section.
3.  While you are there, enable installation of applications from unknown sources.  To do this, just tick the Unknown Sources checkbox in the Settings > Applications menu.
4.  Open the installed UnlockRoot application.
5.  Click on the big green Root button and follow the on-screen instructions.
That’s it.  Your device should be rooted when the UnlockRoot tool is finished doing its thing!

We featured Kingsoft Office a couple of weeks back, and it offers many useful features to those looking to create, export, edit or share documents on-the-fly. You can easily view .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx files, although you cannot edit the latter two.

With this app, which, by the way, is absolutely free of charge, you can create Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in formats supporting Office 2003 and earlier, or Office 2007 and later.

You can also view .pdf files, which is useful since they happen to be one of the more common document formats. Keeping your documents in check has never been easier thanks to the built-in file manager, and you can easily send and receive your documents and attachments through the Mail app.

Documents To Go

Those looking to edit Office documents while out and about on their Android tablets, need look no farther than Documents To Go by Dataviz, which is widely regarded as the best in its field.

Providing a slick, visually-appealing interface, it oozes simplicity and is brilliantly optimized for mobile document editing. You can easily connect with Google’s new Drive service in order to keep your documents safe and accessible from anywhere, at any time, and it’s easy to see why Documents To Go is one of the most popular choices among Android users.

It’s free to try – you can download the free Viewer app and trawl through your Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF files, but if you wish to edit them, you’ll need to purchase a license key, which will set you back $14.99.

Quickoffice HD Pro

Quickoffice is an award-winning software allowing office documents to be viewed on-the-fly, and as the name implies, its forte is in ensuring tasks can be completed in a brisk, productive manner.

While plenty of office alternatives offer a plethora of features, they sometimes come at the expense of functionality, and the whole experience seems laggy and bloated. Fortunately, Quickoffice manages to include some great features while also sticking with its "quick" motif.

From the moment it’s first launched, it feels like the perfect marriage of tablet and app, and unlike others in the list, time appears to have gone into optimizing the touch interface, with tablet-centric menus aplenty. Photos and text boxes within documents can be easily resized and repositioned, and although it’s more expensive than all of the others at $20, it’s certainly a worthy investment.

If you’re looking for that Office experience on your Android device, then look no further than Quickoffice HD Pro.

Google Drive

Google Docs, which very recently became known as Google Drive, has long been a worthy Microsoft Office web alternative, and having fairly recently included offline editing, it sneaks itself a mention on this list.

Unfortunately, it does have has more than its fair share of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office document formats, and although importing and editing them is a breeze, saving those files as Office .docx, .xlsx, or .pptx files can be a different matter altogether.

If you’re a Google Drive user on the Web, then downloading this app is a no-brainer, but if you’re looking for a feature-rich, polished experience, you may want to look at the likes of Quickoffice HD Pro.

ThinkFree Office Mobile

Quite misleadingly, the full version of ThinkFree Office for Android actually costs $15, and if you can get over the disappointment of thinking it was free, actually provides a decent inventory of features.

ThinkFree can effortlessly load Word, Excel, PDF and PowerPoint formats, and boasts Google Drive integration and ThinkFree Online.

Importantly, compatibility with Microsoft’s Office files is efficient, and though ThinkFree is probably primarily designed for smartphones, it does a decent job on the tablet too.

All in all, Quickoffice HD Pro comes up trumps, and being the most expensive of our round-up doesn’t prevent it from being the most highly-recommended.
